Charismatic guitarist Miloš Karadaglić debuts on Deutsche Grammophon with analbum saluting his instrument’s Mediterranean heritage. Born in the Balkan state of Montenegro,Miloš’s love-affair with the guitar began when he was eight, when hisfather played him a recording of Segovia making magic with Albeniz’s ‘Asturias’. Miloš gave hisfirst public performance at nine, entered (and won) his first nationalcompetition at eleven. He became a star performer on television and radio, tookguitar master-classes in Belgrade, and then, shortly after the end of theBalkan war, decided to try for a scholarship at London’s RoyalAcademy of Muisic.

Listening to the debut album by guitarist Miloš Karadaglić, you find yourself wondering where on earth the classical guitarhas been lately. As he moves from haunting compositions by Tarrega, Albeniz andGranados to the more abstract shapes of Carlo Domeniconi’s Koyunbabasuite, it’s as if Karadaglic is shining a brilliant light on the entireheritage of his instrument .
“The Seventies was the golden time of the guitar, but the situationwas different because there was so much support from the media, the BBC andeverybody,” says Milos (he’s known by just his first name).
“Because of Julian Bream and John Williams, the classical guitarreally was a household name, but then the world changed, and the kind of musicpeople wanted to listen to changed. I want to wake the guitar up from thishibernation, and show what I can do and what my instrument can do.”
“Can do” are two words that sit comfortably with Milos. Born 28 years ago inthe tiny Balkan country of Montenegro, he felt driven from an early age to bean artist and performer. Since Montenegro has a population of only 600,000 andno discernable classical guitar tradition, making a career on the instrumentwas what might be called “a big ask”.
It all began when Milos discovered an ancient and dusty guitar with brokenstrings on top of a cupboard in his parents’ bedroom.Inexplicably, this sorry wreck of an instrument convinced him that he mustbecome a guitarist. Since, as he puts it, “it was still kind ofcommunist then” and there were no private music teachers, he enrolled in the statemusic school.

佛拉门戈吉他大师Paco De Lucia用一把Hermanos Conde吉他，弹奏出来的音色丰满，低音非常有力；
Al Di Meola用一把Ovantion吉他奏出清脆响亮的高音，在合奏中往往使用电子合成器和手拍打吉他来掌控节奏；
John Mclaughlin参与了包括《Bitches Brew》在内共五张迈尔斯·戴维斯唱片的演出，为乐队加入了英国摇滚乐的风格。

一首首听下来，第一首曲子热情浓烈；第二首由Al Di Meola作曲，曲子结尾处弦线大力振动，打吉他时的动态非常凌厉；第三首《仲夏之夜》是John McLaughlin所作，首先是一阵逼真的飞机掠过天际的效果声，然后三大吉他高手轮番登场，各自竞技。三人合奏时，三支吉他一字平排在音场中间，当弹奏有主有次时，伴奏吉他若隐若现十分有趣。第四首是爵士乐经典名曲《Manha De Carnaval》由John McLaughlin用空心吉他领奏，乐声甫起，动人的旋律直指聆乐者的心田，使人心中泛起了阵阵涟漪。与听过众多演唱和演奏版本相比，这个双人吉他版本多了一份清新空明的感人内涵，少了热热闹闹的场面，这种动中求静的境界令人遐思连连。另外，John McLaughlin的呼吸和鼻息清晰可闻，十分HIFI。再听听第九首，Paco De Lucia快速又力的拨弦石破天惊，Al Di Meola甘居人后，阵阵微微用力的拍打技巧应和，那种卜卜的声音就象音乐家心脏的跳动．．．．．．
